How does counselling work?

I will not give advice but aim to stay as close as possible to your lived experience in a close connected therapeutic relationship. I aim to create a nurturing, compassionate environment where you can talk through your concerns in a way that bring clarity and healing.

What does a therapist actually do?

It can be helpful to talk to someone who is trained to listen, explore how you feel and put words to those feelings. A good counsellor is nurturing and compassionate and can provide a space where you can talk through concerns in a way that leads to clarity and healing.

Why can’t I just talk to friends or family?

Talking to friends or family can be helpful but the counselling relationship is different because the counsellor is more neutral. I can look at your life from a different perspective. In the therapeutic relationship you can talk freely without concern about hurting my feelings or offending me
